I love Five Guys, they make amazing burgers, milkshakes and fries with a proper American diner theme. We had one open in Exter a few years ago, and have had a few delivered.
One night we really fancied one, but as it was February and we were into the Fatloss February Challenge, I wanted to make my own healthier version.
I made a lower fat burger with 5% fat mince, didn't use any oil in the frying, used my Actifry for air fried chips and used lower fat mayo and low sugar ketchup. I had to use a proper white burger bun for authenticity, and American cheese slices.
The serve the burgers with free toppings, and this burger is a take on their 'All the Way burger', which is mayo, lettuce, pickle, tomato, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, ketchup and mustard.

Five Guys Burger at Home Recipe
Extra Easy Syn Value: Variable depending on the bun used. Recommended to check yourself.
All syn calculations are my own, and are for guidance only. I am not affiliated with Slimming World in any way. These are meals and recipes that I have followed myself.
You will need:
For the burger:
450g extra lean (less than 5% fat) beef mince
1 small onion finely chopped
1 garlic clove, finely chopped
2 tsp fat free natural yogurt
Salt & pepper to taste
Toppings:
4 Bacon Medallions, cubed
4 American Cheese Slices
Handful of mushrooms, finely chopped
Handful of onions, finely chopped
Iceburge lettuce, cut into small strips
1 Beef tomato, slices
White burger buns
1 pickled gherkin, sliced
ketchup
mustard
mayo
Method:
To make the burgers, gently fry off the chopped onion until cooked through, being careful that the onion doesn't go brown or black! Once cooked, set aside to cool
Add the garlic, a pinch of salt & pepper, yogurt and the cooled onions to the minced beef and mix together until blended.
Divide the mixture into 4 portions and using your hands, shape each portion into a burger. Set aside.
Place a frying pan sprayed with low calorie oil spray over a medium-high heat and cook the onions and mushrooms, then remove and set aside.
Start to fry off the burgers in a pan with a medium heat.
Mean while prepare the buns. The 'Five Guys' way requires 1 tbsp ketchup and 1 tsp mustard are added to the bottom of the bun. Then pile the onions and mushrooms on top.
On the other half, add 1 tbsp mayo and the shredded lettuce and sliced pickles. You would add the tomatoes to the lettuce and pickles as well. I don't like tomatoes, so left them out of mine.

When the burgers have cooked all the way through, add a slice of cheese onto each one. Then top with the cooked bacon.
When the burgers have cooked, stack them on the bottom of the bun with the mushroom and ketchup them
Wrap them in foil and leave for 3 minutes to give that authentic taste.
